Porto Liscia

Although the beach in Porto Liscia is not very wide, it is the longest along the northern coast of Sardinia. The golden sandy shore provides a transparent, crystalline bluish-green sea, often studded with the windsurfers’ coloured sails.

Porto Pollo

This beach is a sandy inlet stretching for approximately 3 km situated on the right side of the isthmus that leads to the Isola dei Gabbiani (Isuledda). It is wind-swept all year round and it is renowned throughout Europe by enthusiasts of wind and sailing sports. The sandy shore is backed by a dune area of naturalistic interest.

Costa Serena

The beach in Costa Serena is a corner of paradise overlooking the La Maddalena Archipelago and it runs along an extensive stretch of coast, with a very white shore consisting of medium-grain sand. The lush vegetation has grown to the extent where it almost touches the sea.

Cala di Trana

The wide beach, protected to the east by Punta Sardegna and to the west by Punta Sardegna Mare, is part of solitary, wild natural setting, with high dunes studded with fragrant bushes and marine scrubland.

Porto Rafael

The golden sandy shore, surrounded by tafoni rock formations, providing spectacular colour contrasts. The beach is ideal also for younger children because the access path is convenient, the sea bottom is shallow and in the sultriest hours of the day, the shrubs provide precious areas of shadow.

La Sciumara

The sandy stretch of beach is located in a beautiful cove, enclosed by cliffs, to the west of Palau. The light-coloured sand suggestively contrasts with the green of the Maquis scrubland and the holm oak woods behind as well as the incredible colours of the sea that range between sky-blue and blue.

Punta Cardinalino

This suggestive little beach, set among the vegetation and the jagged rocks of Capo d’Orso, provides spectacular turquoise waters and it is a real temptation for those who appreciate silence and peacefulness.

Punta Cuncato

Known also as Cala Scilla, the cove with granite rocks is characterised by a medium-depth sea bottom and an emerald green sea without any seagrass, is the habitat of a wide range of marine fauna. The Maquis scrubland embraces this corner of sea that can be reached from the Cala Serena crossroads near to the tennis courts.

Isola dei Gabbiani

Petrabianca itinerari

The Isola dei Gabbiani (Seagull Island, yet its real name is Isuledda) overlooks the La Maddalena Archipelago protected marine park, thanks to its windiness, it is the ideal destination for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts. The peninsular is enclosed by two large bays that alternatively have, according to the winds, high waves and calm sea. To choose the type of sea you prefer, you only need to change the side of the short isthmus that connects it to the mainland. It is ideal in summer also for those who are seeking a lively, informal evening environment.

La Maddalena archipelago

Petrabianca itinerari

The La Maddalena Archipelago National Park is unanimously considered to be one of the most beautiful places in Sardinia and unmissable location to be visited on any trip along the northern coast of the island. Small ferries or private boats propose extremely suggestive itineraries to the main islands of the archipelago such as La Maddalena, Caprera, Budelli, Santa Maria, Razzoli and Spargi. The itineraries always include a stop on particular beaches, such as the Spiaggia del Cavaliere (The Knight’s Beach) on the island of Budelli, or trips off the coast of protected areas such as the famous Spiaggia Rosa (Pink Beach).

Palau

The Tenuta Petra Bianca is 3 kilometres from Palau, a municipality on the northern coast of Sardinia and not far from the renowned Emerald Coast. Its port provides direct access to the marvellous La Maddalena Archipelago. One of the merits of Palau is its splendid natural monument known as Roccia dell’Orso (Bear Rock): at the end of a short stroll among olive groves and holm oaks, the path opens out to a view of the imposing natural sculpture overlooking a breath-taking panorama. The multitude of beaches in the Palau area is the ideal tourist destination and is suitable for several sports activities: in addition to kitesurfing and windsurfing, you will also be able to take go at diving lessons, attend the sailing, SUP and kayak school. Palau is also a location where important events and exhibitions are held, known throughout the Gallura area as well as being of great importance for tourists who are passing through the area. Entertainment in the town centre is always guaranteed: for this very reason, Palau is the ideal destination both for those who are seeking a peaceful holiday and for those who prefer to treat themselves to a few, more exciting evenings.

The Tomb of the Giants

Li Mizzani is a megalithic site that arises on a short plateau on the slopes of Mount Canu. This is a funeral monument dating back to the Nuragic period set in a silent and almost surreal landscape. The location is embraced by an aura of mystery linked to the legends that consider it bestows healing powers, yet it is the natural terrestrial magnetism and the suggestive force of these stones that tell an age-old story, the real magic of this area.

Roccia dell'Orso

Opposite the island of Santo Stefano there is the natural monument that characterises the Palau coast. This is on the peak of the granite promontory bearing the same name, situated at a height of 122 metres above sea level. Over the past millennia, the hydrolysis processes have eroded this granite mass giving it the shape of a large walking bear, that seems to be almost ready to dive into the water. Along the path, you can admire high-reaching vegetation and the La Maddalena archipelago.

Batteria di Capo d'Orso

Today, the intricate maze of paths, tunnels and suspended bridges has been abandoned, it is unstable and has been invaded by the maquis scrubland but, over the years ranging between the First War of Independence up to the end of World War II, the Batteria di Capo d’Orso (Capo d’Orso Battery) had a fundamental strategic purpose thanks to its dominating position overlooking the Gulf of Arzachena, the La Maddalena and Caprera. By climbing up the road leading to the Roccia dell’Orso (Bear Rock) you can have a magnificent overall view of the fortress with the sea in the background.

Batteria di Talmone

In order to reach the Batteria di Talmone (Talmone Battery), it is necessary to follow a path that runs along one of the most beautiful stretches of sea in the Palau area. Spring is the ideal period in which to see the blossoming sandy coasts that, together with the greyish-pink granite masses, make the environment a spectacular location. The view stretches from the Bocche di Bonifacio (The Strait of Bonifacio), with the island of Spargi situated high above the sea opposite you: due to its position, the itinerary provides also the opportunity to observe the seabirds in the local area.

Ethnographic Museum

The two large halls of the Ethnographic Museum in Palau host a variety of objects found either in the local “stazzi” or which belonged to the first artisans of the town. It is divided into thematic sections and it tells the story of Palau through the objects that characterised the domestic and agro-pastoral life by providing the visitor with an insight to Gallura prior to the advent of tourism.

Fortress of Monte Altura

La Batteria di Monte Altura (The Mount Altura Battery), to the north-west of Palau, is situated in an extremely panoramic position: the view ranges from the surrounding islands right up to the island of Corsica. The location, in an excellent state of conservation, can be reached by the road that leads to Punta Sardegna/ Porto Rafael and it is open only to guided tours; during the summer it hosts concerts and cultural events. The guided tour starts at a quarter past every hour during the opening hours stated and it lasts approximately 45 minutes.
